Aphotic Shield
Summons dark energies around an ally unit, creating a shield that absorbs a set amount of damage before expiring. When the shield is destroyed it will deal damage equal to the amount it absorbed to an 300 AOE around it. If cast on self while using borrowed time, the damage you take will heal you. Lasts 20 seconds.
Level 1 - 125 damage.
Level 2 - 175 damage.
Level 3 - 225 damage.
Level 4 - 275 damage.
Mana Cost: 100
Cooldown: 22

Note/s: Aphotic Shield is needed to fight heroes throughout the game. Even if Abbadon is built, he may still need the Shield’s power. If you want to harrass at early game, cast Aphotic Shield on the first creep. Make sure that the creep that you Shielded will be the creep that the opposing team’s wave will hit first.

Death Coil
A coil of death that can damage an enemy unit or heal a friendly unit at the cost of his own life. Manacost decreases per level.

Mana Cost: 75
Cooldown: 15

Note/s: A little bit risky on the early parts of the game. But if you know you are going to die, it’s reccommended to do Death Coil to avoid death from an enemy. On killing terms, use Death Coil if the enemy gets away with a considerably low amount of life.

Magina(Anti-Mage)

March 31st, 2008

Who is Magina?

Through different levels of play and different versions of DotA it has been observed that Anti-Mage can be played in multiple ways. Pubs have always put bashers on Anti-Mage and higher level games have seen the mek/linkens and soulbooster days. The way you are playing him depends on your line-up and match-up, and of course the level of the game.

In my view Anti-Mage can be played in two ways. Firstly, you can play him as a secondary carry who ganks and carries the team later because upon analysing Anti-Mages spells you will see that his spells are most effective against heroes and are stronger early game than late game. He is not meant to farm all game and carry. Alternatively, you can play him as a tank who absorbs all enemy spells thrown at him because of the magic reduction of Spell Shield and the escape from Blink.

Remember to pick Anti-Mage if the opposing line-up is mainly nukers as they are food for Anti-Mage late-game.
This guide will analyse all his skills and give guidelines on how to use him. I will also provide strategical advice and hopefully this guide will aid you in gaining experience in playing Magina and DotA in general.

Abilities Discussion:

Mana Break:
Mechanics: the damage is normal [(Mana Burnt x 0.6) damage] and it can be blocked by Vangaurd, reduced by armor and magic immunity prevents the mana burn so no damage will be dealt. May be disabled by Doom (like most spells QQ).
Strategics: this is both an offensive and defensive ability. This disables the enemy preventing them from using their spells when they are low on mana and it also deals 38 damage each attack which synergises with your ultimate. This is an orb effect so you will not be buying any orb effect items for him.

Blink:
Mechanics: it has 200 minimum range and 1000/1075/1150/1150 maximum range but if you click past the range you will Blink to around 800 range. Unable to teleport to areas that you have not explored.

Section 1: Introduction to the Bounty Hunter

Hello everyone! I’m back! I’m doing a guide on Gondar, my current favorite hero. This is my third guide overall. I hope you have read my other two guides on Faceless Void and Nerubian Weaver. I have to say that this is the best guide out of the three, and I guarantee that you will master the Bounty Hunter once you finish reading this guide.

Gondar is one of those heroes that may seem to really be difficult to play with. When you get to use him for the first time, I’m certain that you will get the feeling that you are uncomfortable with Gondar. But once you net your first kill, you will learn to like Gondar and his role on the team. He is really fun to play as. That’s why he became my favorite hero, because of the fun factor you get when you play as him. I hope once you have finished reading this guide and have a godlike streak, you will have the same opinion I have on Gondar. Enjoy reading my guide!

Section 2: Fast Facts about Gondar

Life Story:

“Gondar is a Draenei that is often called upon for his superior skills. Not much is known about his past, but his capabilities are extraordinary. Some believe he learned from a ninja clan while others say he was born with his amazing abilities. He is able to throw shurikens with extreme accuracy and has the strength to strike down any foe with his two swift blades. His agility is matched by none, and his stealth is inferior to only a few. He is interested in the tournament for money alone, and promised a huge reward.”

The Priestess of the Moon(Mirana Nightshade Ownage)

March 28th, 2008

IPB Image

Hey fellow friends. This is Sacred with my first ever guide. Why I choose to write about PoTM is simple because of the fact that Dota Portal lacks PoTM guides. I will try to make this guide as detailed and as simple to understand. Criticisms are always welcomed. Without further ado, I shall start.

Damage: 38 - 49 | HP: 473 | Mana: 221

A matriarch and high priestess of Elune`s blessed order, Mirana Nightshade serves as a light in darkness for the front line of the Sentinel ranks, raining arrows and falling stars alike upon the shambling undead masses of the Undead Scourge, while her very presence is said to be so holy that it melts away the fatigue of nearby allies, giving them greater haste on the battlefield. In times of need however, she can fade herself and others around her into the safety of invisibility, making her a potent supporter matched by few.

Level 2 - 150 damage per wave.
Level 3 - 225 damage per wave.
